About Me

I'm a mom, a teacher, a student, a wife, and a scout leader. I am actually an education major currently working on my practicum in a 2nd grade classroom. I also home school my two children. I'm also a cub scout leader, a girl scout leader, and at church I'm the children's music leader. ;) I tend to stay a little busy. My state requires homeschoolers to keep a portfolio. I am going to use this blog as my portfolio.

What am I?

Paper Plates Day 2

Here are the self portraits. You may have to lick on the picture to see Collin's "face". He insisted on using his favorite color, orange, that you can't see very well in the pic. ;)

We made happy and sad faces on a plate and then I came up w/ things like, "It's your birthday, your toy was taken, more red juice... etc" and they had to flip to the happy or sad plate to express how they would feel.

Ronni did this one while Collin did the following activity. I put stickers on wax paper (easier to remove than the original sheet they were on) and she peeled them off and stuck them on her plate.

We thought this one may be too difficult for Ronni. I let Collin color a paper plate however he wanted and then cut it into 6 pieces. I then used a whole paper plate for him to put his "puzzle" back together on. It held the pieces in place better.

Paper Plates Day 1

We talked about healthy foods and not so healthy foods. Then we went through magazines and cut out different types of foods and put them on the "good" plate or the "bad" plate. We talked about how the things on the bad plate are great treats once in a while but you can't eat them too much.

This game was mainly for Ronni. I colored plates different colors (red, yellow & blue) and then cut them in half. We worked on matching the colors that looked the same. I gave one half of each to Ronni and I had the others. I asked her to hand the one that matched to Collin. Sometimes she'd get it and sometimes she didn't.

We cut the center out of plates to make visors (hats). I let the kids paint them.

Below is a pic of them wearing them. ;)

I think our life is finally returning to normal so we're back on for the "craftivities". We're just going to call this break the summer vacation. hehe!
